This was a done deal weeks ago - back when Jr first announced that he was going to leave DEI he knew what he had in mind. Then he thought the best he could do would be to work with HMS, now things have changed. I honestly don't believe there was ever anyone else in play - certainly not RCR.
I'm not a big Jr fan, but I follow this sport closely enough to know that he's always been consistent in his desire to separate himself from his father's legacy and his father's fans. Going to RCR would not allow him to do that.
I think Jr is really yearning for that close familial atmosphere that exists at Hendrick. As big as his name is he'll still be the odd man out in the beginning - not that they won't make him feel welcome, they'll certainly try, but I do think it's going to be a big transition for him. Heck, it's going to be a big transition for a lot of people (LOL). I'm looking forward to hearing more of the details of this move, because I know Mr H couldn't have gone forward with this unless Kyle was an active participant in the process.
One thing's certain: This is a turning point in the history of this sport. Never before has so much power been in the hands of so few... okay, one. HMS, while a dominant player before, is now the premier team, nobody else even comes close.
I can't help but remember what Jeff Gordon said on Tradin Paint when asked about this - "Be careful what you wish for..."
I'm a long time Rowdy fan (by Rowdy standards :-) ) but generally not big into Internet communities. Since I am a Rowdy fan and this has been such an interesting year in NASCAR, I'd like to be able to participate from time-to-time, but spending time creating a tribute page to Hendrick Motorsports just isn't my thing (LOL). It would be nice if people like me could come and participate without having to do all this side stuff.
