I FedExed the Rowdy Banner yesterday to Illinois and into the hands of...... I don't really know. So if whoever is receving it could get in touch with me, I could give them the tracking #.
Wow. What a day at Infineon! It's taken me me so long to post this because I had to catch up on work and stuff at home till now.
Raceday Live was awesome! Calblaizer and his family got lost, with a GPS I might add (I have no idea how you do that), and wasn't able to make the beginning of Raceday. So Sarah, who was sick that day, agreed to help me hold the banner. Her helping on a day when she is healthy is hard to begin with because her whopping height of 5'3" doesn't quite reach as high as my 5'11". But she kept on truckin despite being under the weather and vertically challenged.
We arrived to hoist the banner about 45 min before the show started, but it wasn't early enough. There were already people crowding the stage with signs on 8 foot polls which blocked our banner, and sermed to smash any hope we had of getting the name of Rowdy on TV. We tried moving around for almost the first hour of the two hour show, but with no success. We just couldn't get it high enough. Then after almost giving up completely, I looked on the jumbotron and noticed what was behind Jimmy Spencer when they took the wide angle shot of the three anouncers: the stairs going up to the grandstands! Perfect! I said, "Come on! I found a spot!" We went up the stairs, unrolled the banner, held it up where we thought it should be when they took the wide shot, and the next time they did, sure enough! There we were! Fitting perfectly between Jimmy in the center and John Roberts on the left.
Soon after, Calblaizer and his son TroubleInTurn4 showed up and took their turn hoisting the banner. It was great to finally meet them. All in all, it was a great day! Even though Kyle won and Burton screwed up in the pits.
Thanks Rowdy guys, for sending me the banner! It really was a blast!
The banner is in the box, the snacks are in the car, and my Burton hat is out of the closet. I'm ready for race day! I have no doubt it'll be an awesome day in wine country with all the Rowdyites. I'm looking forward to seeing people from last year and meeting new ones.
I hope to take some video during the day and cut it up and put it to some music so I can share the day with all of you who aren't fortunate enough to be there.
We depart at 5 am from Modesto and travel about 2 hrs west and north. We're sitting in turn 8 on the grass. It's the best and cheapest place to sit.... or so my dad and I think. You have to jumbotron to look at, but you can see about 80% of the track.
And for all of you who don't live in the central valley of California, Savemart is a grocery store.

Infineon is only 4 days away, and the Nor-Cal Tanned Sheep are ready and rearin to go!.... I think. The thing is, I don't know who's goin. So far the only people that I've been in contact with is Shavelle, and she's not even sure if she's going. And I can't raise the banner all by myself. So if I can get those of you who are going to get in touch with me that'd be great.
It's so amazing seeing all the signatures on the back of the banner. All the places it's been and all the people who have hoisted it. It's a true piece of Rowdy history.
Can't wait to see you all there!
Hey guys. I'd really like to get a handle on who is going to Infineon so we can work out when and where to meet on raceday to hoist the banner. Just drop me a line so's we can get things rollin.
Kevin Lepage made the most stupid move I have ever seen at a restricter plate race. In case you haven't watched the Nationwide race, go on Nascar website and watch the video.
Kevin was driving up off of pit road during green because of a loose tire. Right before turn 1, the pack caught him as he was moving up across the yellow line. As the leaders went by in the middle, his right sides were already over the line and right infront of some of the botom line cars. A few ducked by, then Carl Edwards slammed into the back of him. Carl's car lifted up in the air and cars all around went crashing. And the worst part of this, Kevin's spotter warned him that the pack was comin' up fast.
When the interviewed Lepage, he said he did nothing wrong. He said that Nascar had told the drivers that they need to flush up with the pack going into turn one. But in fact, Nascar told the drivers not to come up above the yellow line till the back stretch. He even had the gumption to say that if the other driver's spotters didn't "... see my red and yellow car, they need new spotter." I cannot believe that kind of arrogance is possible. He was not appologetic for the 14 cars he took out.
It appears somebody wansn't paying attention during the drivers meeting.
Good article about Burton, so I thought I'd share it.

Let me know what you think.
With all the miles lead by Rowdy Busch, you would think he would have more wins than he does. But after 5 races and leading more than a quarter of the miles raced this season AND with a dominating car at every track, why only 1 win?
On today's Big 3 Buck called Kyle the "human pinball" and that he's "all over the place." Cutler's parry was that he's not blowing it on the track. Well Cut, I beg to differ.
More than once this season Shrub has wasted a perfectly good chance at a win. He has had excellent cars at every race, but has only gotten it done once. I can say with the utmost certainty that if he had taken it a little easier and hadn't used up his car in the first half of every race, he would have been a contender for the win every time.
But you say, "He's leading the points for crying out loud!" I think this is the point Buck is trying to say but hasn't said it. (Buck, correct me if I'm wrong.) Kyle is currently 30 points in the lead right now. In my opinion, if he had taken it easier and possibly had 2 or even 3 wins by now, he could more than 130 points in the lead by this point in the season.
Cutler also made the assertion that if he toned it down that he wouldn't be Kyle. Here's my counter question: if someone can improve themself by being uncharacteristic, then what's the harm?
Is he atop the standings, yes. Could he be even more in the lead by working on being more relaxed on the track, for sure. Remember. That's how Burton got his win at Bristol.
I was thinking about the money brought in by the team. I wanted to know how much money each team brought in on Sunday at Bristol. So I did a few minutes of looking and came up with this. These are the top 5 finishing (money) teams of the day:
Childress: $515,694
Roush: $492,666
Hendrick: $480,702
Gibbs: $371,702
DEI: $338,714
Childress had a $23,028 lead over a team with one more car than them. That's a big margin.
Some teams had more cars than others, so here's how much each car brought in on average:
Childress: 3 cars - $171,898 per car avg
Gibbs: 3 cars - $123,900.67 per car avg
Roush: 4 cars - $123,166.50 per car avg
Hendrick: 4 cars - 120,166.50 per car avg
DEI: 3 cars - 112,913.67 per car avg
That's $47,997.33 more per car for RCR than any other team. All of this really demonstrates the worth of a 1-2-3 sweep money wise.
I have now been listening to Rowdy for a whole year. I can't belive it! The improvement I've seen in the quality of information has been awesome. Cudos to Buck, Bass, Cutler, Rusty, James, Randy, and the Professor for a great year of racing news.
GO ROWDY!!!!
