Well, I never thought I would see the day that I am bored with NASCAR, but it has happened! I was watching what is always my favorite race of the year, the Bristol night race, and the same people were running in the same positions and having the same stuggles and the same this and the same that. I feel like I am watching the same race every week. I actually fell asleep during the Sharpie 500!!!
I thought these new cars were supposed to make everyone equal, they just make some teams dominate in my opinion.
I hope this is just a passing thing for me and I find the sport entertaining again soon, Im not gonna give up on it alltogether. Shoot, I watched the entire season back when Jeff Gordon won almost everything or at least ran in the top 3 all year, I geuss it goes like this. Every now and then someone just dominates, but it sure makes everything BORING!
I must say that I completly enjoyed listening to Rick Mast talkin about how to do a pit stop as a driver. Most people think (and I geuss I was one of them) that drivers pull into their pit stall park it and drink something until they are told to go. Sure a lot more to it than that!! Just goes to show once again how much of a TEAM sport this really is.
What a complete and total joke this race was, and it was INDY!! Someone please tell me the last time NASCAR threw a caution every 10 laps during a race. And what are they going to do about it now?
My opinion, Goodyear has screwed the pooch too many times this year, time to give Hoosier Tires a call.
I entered last week in 6th place overall in driver zone and ended up after the race in 38th place......I only got 1 point last week!!!
Nothing to do now but buck up and keep trying.
Last week on one of the podcasts, Buck and Bass were talking about how many tracks there are that dont get a second race or dont get a race at all. And how NASCAR would like to expand even more going into new areas such as Seattle, however the schedule is full already and adding races would be a bad idea. So, that got me to thinking, how can NASCAR open up new markets, go back to old tracks that have lost races and maintain a good schedule without lengthening the season? Believe it or not, I came up with an idea.
Now, I dont know if this has ever been discussed before, if it has I havent seen it. But here is my thought.
How about Nascar takes the Nationwide Series and bump it up to cup status, split the star caliber teams between the two series and run both simultaniously creating a couple of seperate "leagues", or "divisions", just like baseball or football. They could keep the points counting in every race then when there is only ten races left, combine the top 20 teams from each series and run the final ten races for the championship.
This way every sunday you would have a race in one area like Bristol, and at the same time a race going on somewhere else like Fontana.
This would also allow two races at a lot of tracks, each series would run a track one time, and some tracks would be exclusively for one series or another. I think there are more than enough fans to do this as well as tracks.
The Nationwide Series isnt at all what it was intended to be anyhow, it is not a "minor league" of NASCAR with all the Cup drivers running in it every week anyhow.
I think this could be a blast to have two races every weekend and then a chase for the cup ten race "playoff".
As a lifetime Iceman fan, this kinda makes me smile. I cant wait to see him running around the track again, doing the thing that he enjoys doing the most, racing at the top level of competition. But on the other hand, I want him to do well and dont think he can in the Petty machine. I hope that this doesnt leave a dark spot on his stellar legacy.
By the way, was is Buck or Bass that had a problem with the elder Labonte? I forget which one was going off on it in the podcast, but come on, its always cool to see a former champ get back in the car! Nobody complained when others have done it, at least not this loudly. So back off the Iceman, man!
Last night proved once again that the Bush boys only know one way to win and that is to wreck someone else that is in the way. It seems to be the only way Kyle can get the lead this year.
And now that big brother is playing "nice" he cant get anywhere near the lead. I geuss he just doesnt know how to pass without taking out someone else.
I geuss I wouldnt mind this type of hard racing so much if one of them would just admit once that maybe they went a little far that time or maybe they shouldnt have tried that pass right then. But every time a Bush takes out someone else they try to blame the other person or say that they did absalutely nothing wrong at all.
My only consolation last night was the Kyle still didnt win the race!
WOOHOOO!!!!! Jimmie and Chad finally figured one out and got that car pointed in the right direction! I bet they start running top ten all year now (at least I hope they do).
Wow, what an inspirational man, wheather you are disabled or not, this man is showing everybody how to make lemonade out of lemons and keep living life to its fullest. excellent interview.
I love the podcast every day, but come on guys, your wasting a lot of valuable nascar talk time babbling on about make up. Im starting to think Buck and Bass are ENJOYING the make up as much as they carry on about it!
