I just don't understand all the Dale Earnhardt Jr. fans out there booing Kyle Busch. I mean, this is still NASCAR right? And who set the ultimate standard in constantly & aggressively pursuing victory? Yes, that would be Dale Earnhardt Sr. Both Junior and Busch the younger drive for excellent teams, both have the best possible machines and both have been driving their hearts out. That's what racing is all about. Just because the outcome hasn't gone your way early in this season, shouldn't you still be able to appreciate the talent and the heart that Kyle Busch has brought to the sport? Or would you prefer he just roll over so Junior can get a win? And just what kind of victory would that be anyway? No, Junior needs to go out there and win a race by being the best car and the best driver on a given Sunday and you shouldn't want it any other way! And we all should be able to appreciate the talent and the style Kyle Busch has brought to the sport.
Move over, Joe Gibbs. Here comes Randy Moss. Moss announced this week that he has formed Moss Motorsports LLC, and said he hopes to have a team in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series by the end of this year. He hopes to have a part-time race schedule this year and join the truck series on a full-time basis in 2009. Moss has yet to hire a driver – or at least to announce his name publicly.
Denny wins at Martinsville. Nice race and he was due after the fuel malfunction at the end of Bristol. Good race today lots of action but really liked the good, clean, long run at the end.
With this being Dale Jarrett's last race today, seems appropriate to have a blog dedicated to him. Dale has had an awesome career and he's been a leader off the track as well. I've been a Jarrett fan for so many years there is no doubt his retirement leaves a void in the sport for me. I am looking forward to having him do commentary in the ESPN booth as I think he will do a great job there, but it will never be the same as having him on the race track! All I can say is thanks for the memories, Dale!
Congrats to Toyota on their first Cup win. What a job JGR has done with these cars and what a job Kyle Busch did driving it. That kid can drive.
What'd you all think of Tony Stewart's comments about the Goodyear's?
Red Bull has replaced AJ Allmendinger with Mike Skinner in the #84, at least temporarily. I have to admit, I have been pulling for AJ to do well, and I hope at some point he gets another ride, but I think Red Bull's "temporary" is going to be more permanent, at least at the Cup level.
Had a bunch of comments listed under my last two blog entries and now they're gone. Anyone know what happened there?
Well, our California experience came to a close yesterday. We had a morning flight and so we missed the rest of the race. Despite the rain we still had some fun on Sunday, not as much as we would have on a sunny day I'm sure, but it was still fun to be at the track and see some green flag laps. I'll be posting a few pics but we didn't get too many good ones.
Special thanks to Max and Scott (Calblazer) for their hospitality. We never actually met up because of the rain, but you guys sure made us feel like we had friends in California and that was truly appreciated. Time to start saving $$$ for the next race we can get to!
We got into California this morning, it was rainy but about 80 degrees warmer than it was in MN when we left. We drove by the racetrack on our way to the hotel, gosh it's a big facility. Didn't realize it was in such an industrial area. Anyway, we are excited for the race and can't wait. We're chilling at the hotel for a bit before going to dinner. Hope to see some of you rowdy people at the track!
Got my tickets and travel arrangements all set for the second race of 2008 at California Speedway! It is our anniversary weekend so my wife and I are going to the race, it will be the first Cup race I've been to in person. Even better, I will get to see Dale Jarrett race before he retires! Can't wait for February 24th!
