I read the brief article on Joey driving the 20 car next year in the cup series. I have said it before and I still believe it that he is too young to be driving in the cup series. I think that it is too much peressure way too soon. He is going to be excpeted to run up front right away. I don't care how old you are when you enter the cup series there is a huge amount of pressure on every driver. Alot of the drivers can't handle it or they get burnt out really quite. I will admit he is one hell of a talented driver but he is still only eighteen. Kyle was eighteen when he came on to the Cup series and he made a lot of mistakes on the track due to inexperience that he could have gained if he was lefted in the nationwide series. Let the young guys race in the nationwide series so they can gain more experience on the track, to learn how to handle the media, learn how to handle a disputes among drivers, and for them to realize that they need to try to keep a level head. In today's world once you say something it is all over the media. Do I think Joeyy will have great sucess yes but I also think that he is going to have alot of hard road ahead of him. Too much fame to quick can and usually does ruin a person.
After last night next weekend at Cal. should be intersting to watch Carl and Kyle race with each other. There is defeninlty no love lose between the two of them. In my personal believe is that Carl did nothing wrong with the tap that he gave Kyle to get around him for the lead. Kyle has done the same thing to many of people to get the lead at the end of the race. Here you are racing for the lead, I would do whatever I could to get around someone. I think that he was just mad do to the fact that he had been leading so much of the race and once carl got past him kyle could not get back around him. But you know that those hurt feelings wont go away. So I am just waiting for next weekend to see what happens between the two of them. The one thing that I disagree with is that Kyle hit carl after the race was over. There is noneed for that from any driver. Going around the track after the finish flag dropped and hitting another driver is just really asking for some one to get hurt badly. I would have liked to be a fly on the wall inside the NASCAR hauler to hear what they had to say to Kyle. This hard racing will not go away between these two drivers.
Since Thursday when Tony made is annoucement that he was leaving Gibbs Racing the question has been who is going to be driving the 20 car next season? Gibbs Racing would say who they are really looking towards to drive the 20 car. But everyone is talking about Joey Logano stpping up into the cup series in the 20 car and today Gibbs Racing didn't say if Joey was going to be in the car or not. But that they have talked to Joey and his father about possibility setting up into the cup seris next year. Joe Gibbs says that they are looking over things and don't know who will be driving the 20 car next year. My thing is that Joey has only 4 nationwide races under his belt. Yes he has already won a Nationwide race and he has tested 32 with Gibbs in a cup car. He is still a very young driver with no exprience racing at the Nationwide level or at the Cup level. He is a very talented driver but that does not always mean that he is ready to handle the Cup series. Why would you want to move him on up and burn him up fast. The kid is 18 he has a lot of racing to go in his life. I think that if he stays in the Nationwide for another year or two years it will only make him that more of a better driver. With the open wheel drivers coming oer to the Cup series and with Joey be talked about moving up to the cup series next year I am really starting to think that maybe NASCAR should put out there that a driver has to drive in at least one full Nationwide year, start to finish. Then after that first year then the driver can make the change to the cup series if they choose. Give drivers the chance to learn about some of the tracks, time to devlope what kind of driver they want to be, time to grow with a pit crew and the team, how to handle ones self in the media and with other drivers. If Gibbs chooses to put Logano into the 20 car next year only time will tell if it was a good move to bring Joey up or not.

It wont be official until tomorrow afternoon but it is really looking like Tony will be released early from his contract with Gibbs racing. If he is relased then he is going to be a co owner of HAAS CNC racing. I don't think that is going to be a really good move for Tony. He will be leaving a team that is well established. A team that he has won two championships with. He will be heading for a team that has one car sitting in the 35 postion and the second car is way out. That team needs to be rebuilt and then they are still going to have a huge up hill battle to get both of the cars into the top 35 and stay there. Having the chance to own a team in the Sprint Cup series must be great and it must fullfill his dreams but I still can't help but feel that Tony is going to have a huge battle infront of him and that for the first couple of years he is not going to be happy with the way the teams run. If Tony does choose to go to Haas cnc racing i only wish him success.
Last night I was watching Nascar Now. One of there stories was DEI selling off some interset. Max Seigel was the one that told the report that DEI was not for sale. As I was watching his interview I kept on thinking that Terasea should be the one that should be sitting in that chair and answering the questions. She is the owner of the team not Max. She needs to start stepping up her appearances in interviews and she needs to be back at the track. Her company needs for her to be the hands on owner. I am sure that her teams would like to see her at the track supporting them. She does not have to attend every race but she should be making some of the races. If she is already attending races then she needs to make herself more noticed. My personal feeling is that if she wants or needs to sell part of DEI that she should first try to keep it with in the family. After all Dale bulit DEI as a family business. Like I have said be for only time is going to tell what happens.
Next season at Hendrick's motorsports should be one hell of year. You have Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Dale Jr and now Mark Martin will be joining them. What a team that Hendrick has put togther for the 2009 season and for part of the 2010 season. I think that next year Hendricks will really donmatie the sport. Right now Rick has a really great shot at winning another championship. Dale is 3rd in points, Jimmie is 5th in the points and Jeff is 6th points. Take that and you add Mark into the plan Rick could very well win this year and next years championship. Rick just made himself one hell of a all star team. He now has four of the biggest names in Nascar under one roof. Mark seems like he is really ready to get back into the car for a full season and since he is running a part time schedule in 2010 you know that in 2009 he is going to put everything into every race to get himself in the postion to win a championship. Next year should be another great year of racing in Nascar.
Wishing evryone a Happy Fourth of July. Enjoy your picnics and the fireworks tonights and tomorrow night.

LOUDON, N.H. -- Hendrick Motorsports made it official Friday by announcing that driver Casey Mears would leave the team at the end of the 2008 Sprint Cup season.
Mears
"None of us, Casey included, have been satisfied with the situation this season," team owner Rick Hendrick said. "We've put a ton of emphasis on the No. 5 program. It's been a total team effort, and Casey has worked as hard as anyone to help us improve. But the results just haven't come."
Mears, 30, joined Rick Hendrick's four-car team in 2007 as the driver of the No. 5 Chevrolet, replacing Brian Vickers.
"I know the effort has been there, but we haven't had the finishes to show for it," Mears said. "I've never tested this much or put more energy into racing. But for whatever reason, we just haven't been able to make it click. It's certainly not for lack of dedication on anyone's part."
Hendrick did not say who will drive the No. 5 Chevy next season, but Mark Martin is expected to join the team and take over for Mears, either full-time or part-time with another driver.
Mears had one victory and finished 15th in the Cup standings last year, but he has fallen to 24th this season and hasn't won a race. Mears believes he has other options available to him for 2009.
"I want to get my 2009 plans wrapped up soon," he said, "but I'm also focused on the next 20 races and finishing 2008 on a positive note. We ran well the second half last year and I know we can do it again. I want to close this season the right way."

Today during the race the race commintaters said that Hendrick told Mears last weekend that he might not be returning to Hendrick's next year. That was the first that I have heard that Hendrick's wanted to make a driver change. I know that Mears has not be running up front pretty much all season long but after today's performace at Sonoma. Yes he is 24 in the points standing. But from what I have seen him racing this year, it seems that he is almost at the wrong place at the wrong time and gets involved in wrecks that he really had nothing to do with. It sucks. I think that he is a good race car driver and mabye he needed to have Rick say that if you can't step it up you are going to have to be repalced. Light that match under him and his team. Today he started 23 and he made his way up to the front and he ran up in the top 10 for the last part of the race and he brought the car home in fifth place. Then again today was the first and only time that I heard that Mears might be leaving HMS after this year. So I guess we will have to wait and see how the year plays out for Mears.
But I have to say Congrats to all the Hendrick cars for all of them came home in the top 15 today.
I have being reading news articles all week about CAT leaving Bill Davis Racing to go and sponspor RCR and Jeff Burton. Another Burton driving the Cat car! I think that CAT going over to RCR will be a very good thing. Look at what Burton has done this year. He has one win, four top five finishes, ten top ten finishes and he is in second place in the points standing. Jeff races hard every week but he races smart and clean.
Now that RCR has General Mills as a sponsor for a fourth cup team, now comes the whole guess of who is going to be the driver? RCR is not naming anyone, all he says is that he has a very short list of drivers but that they have to wait a little bit more to be able to talk to anyone. RCR has said that they will be running the car with the number 33 on it. I think that it will be great to see that car on the track next season.
Junior has finally ended his winless streak and hopeful now he can start a winning streak. Today has been a long time coming. He proved to everyone that he can win in the 88 ay Daytona but to finally be able to get a point win is great. I think with this huge pressure off of his back now he will be able to win so many more races this season. This win could really be the thing that Hendrick motorsports needed to get the fire back into that shop and start being the dominate force that they were last year. I am just really happy for Junior to get this off of his back and now he does not have to worry about when he is going to break the winless streak. Lets keep the wins coming and lets take the championship.
Kahne had another great race today. He is coming back into his own strid. What a season this has been for Brian Vickers and the 83 team. They don't have to race into each race this year, they are in the top 20 of standings. The 83 pit crew won the pit crew changelle and he has finished in the top 20 pretty much every weekend. He is able to run up front this year. Way to go guys.
I just watched Dale's post interview in the media center and it was funny. He was joking around and smiling. So if you want to see a pretty funny interview watch it at NASCAR.com and it was on the right hand side under the video control room.
