A small contingent of the Tanned Sheep weathered the heat of Infineon. Trouble in Turn 4 and Calblazer showed up to relieve Peter and Sarah for a few minutes with the banner and Phoenyx and her husband made it for the Saturday Sauna! While Don Runkle was there, we could not gather him from the posh Media center!!! Contact was made with Kenny but Anniversaries overrule Races! Shavelle...well...I hope the concerts were good! Missed you!

As we approach Rowdy member #10,000, I feel that it is time to step down from the self appointed post of greeting each and every Rowdy member. I myself joined Rowdy to be part of a racing community and share in the fun of the sport. In the beginning as 3-10 new members a day joined, I was able to participate in the socialization and share my racing views with "the Nation". In the last two months, we have grown from around 2300 members to as I write now 9937 members. Any attempt to do anything other than greet newbies has been nearly impossible. It is now common to welcome over 200 new members each day. By 1:00 PM tomorrow (Tax Day) we will hit our 10,000th member. This is truly a milestone!
I was honored with the trip of a lifetime for my 20th anniversary as my wife got me tickets to Bristol. I smile as I laugh at the notion that those tickets only represented one tenth of the cost of the trip! I took it in stride and we had an incredible time. I took many pictures and still have yet to post those pictures.
I am truly privileged to be blessed with so many Rowdy friends and I can't wait to re-enter the community as a participant rather than a sole greeter of the masses.
Congratulations to Buck, Bass, Cutler, Rusty, the Perf, Randi, James, Cindy and of course Linda B. You have created a destination place and all of your hard work and determination is very much appreciated! To Mark, Rick, Tyler, Jayski, Poolie, Steve, Dennis, Barry and Sonny, you offer a unique perspective to the vast world of NASCAR racing we all love.
Please keep this utopia we call Rowdy rolling and always remember...

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (February 15, 2008) – Michael Waltrip and his three NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams will pay tribute to the golden anniversary of the Daytona 500 on Sunday by starting the 50th running of The Great American Race sporting specially-designed gold wheels.
Following the 200-lap event, the wheels will be autographed and sold to raise money for charities supported by the France family.
Waltrip, a two-time winner of the Daytona 500 and 21-time participant, will start on the front row after qualifying his #55 NAPA AUTO PARTS Toyota Camry on the outside pole. Three-time Daytona 500 winner Dale Jarrett will start 20th in the #44 UPS Toyota Camry and David Reutimann 42nd in his #00 Aaron’s Dream Machine Toyota Camry.
The Waltrip teams will run the gold wheels only for the start of the race, moving back to their traditional chrome wheels after the first round of pit stops.
“The Daytona 500 is a race that means as much to me as it does to anyone in the world, Waltrip said. “This race defined my career. For the 50th anniversary of The Great American Race, I really wanted to do something special to honor this historic event.
“I am very thankful that my sponsors, NAPA, UPS and Aaron’s allowed us to do this, Waltrip continued. “I’m very proud to be starting on the front row. As you all know, all the Michael Waltrip Racing Camrys have the cool chrome wheels. In honoring this prestigious event with the gold wheels, it’s pretty special to be starting on the front row.
Congrats to Michael Waltrip and the entire MWR team for a total turnaround from 2007! Hopefully this is just the beginning!
