I am a big NASCAR fan. I am one of the few in the NYC metro area. Shout out to the Black Sheep! I am from an area of NJ that gave us Ray Evernham, and was home office for the IROC series.
I go to both Dover races every year and try to get in one additional race per year. This year I am going to Bristol!
I spent my childhood going to races at Pocono. Bring a kid to a race create a fan for life.
I root for Dale Jr. because I grew up rooting for his Daddy.

To all those who were so friendly to me during the season last year. I apologize for not being on here and staying in touch. I had a couple of personal issues and job related issues that kept me from being active on here.
I am back if you all will have me. I am totally psyched for the remainder of the season and I will be attending my first race of the year in Bristol This Weekend.
So he has done it. It is official as of the press conference this morning. Dale Earnhardt Jr. has joined the darkside. Hendricks Motorsports now has all the cards. They have the best equipment, they have multiple championship drivers and they have the most popular driver. They also have the most hated driver.
I can not help but look at Rick Hendrick as Darth Vader. Can't you see him holding his hand out to Luke, umm I mean Jr., saying join the darkside it is your destiny we are your family. Now HMS will have a triumphirate of stars that with the equipment and resources at their disposal should be able to take over the NASCAR Universe. The Rebel Alliance now becomes any of the other teams trying to keep the Championship from HMS. They include RCR, JGR, DEI, Rousch Fenway, Evernham, Petty. All of these Ewoks, Wookies and humanoids will need to work together to stop this massive power.
There is an Evil Empire in NASCAR now What side will you be on? The Empire or the Rebel Alliance? HMS is the equivalent of the Yankees in NASCAR. They have the money the talent and continue to get richer. Do you applaud them for playing the game well or do you resent them for their success? Do you despise the fact that they are taking over everything?
Dale Jr. did what he needs to do. He joined the team most likely to get him to the championship and put him in the winners circle. We have seen what he can do when he has top end equipment. In 2004 when DEI was one of he top of the food chain teams. He was winning consistently and challenging for a championship. It will be good to see him in that situation again. I will continue to support Jr. I have to admit, I always hoped Luke would join his father and go to the darkside of the force. ![]()
Kurt Busch was fined 100 points for running into Steawarts car on pit lane. That is the same as the penalty for using an unapproved part. NASCAR likes to talk about safety with HANS devices, safer barriers, COT, etc., but allows idiot drivers to endanger the lives of the over the wall gang without significant consequences. The fact remains that if the tire changer didn't get out of the way in time serious bodily harm would have come to him.
When is NASCAR going to do something about these hot heads that are conitually endangering others on the track needlessly? This was NASCAR's chance to send a message that they are not going to allow these reckless actions to continue. They should have suspended Busch from a race. Better yet, what they should do is lock Kurt in a room with Stewart's pit crew for 10 minutes and let them teach him a lesson.
I really hate rain outs There I am waiting in the rain hoping against all hope that they would get the race and Barry continues to dump on Dover. The race gets rained out and the next day they get the race in and Martin Truex Jr. wins for the first time
Congrats to Truex Jr. you have made Jersey proud this week. I guess DEI is getting this COT thing figured out. I am looking forward to a strong showing from DEI in the September race
Well it looks likely now that the Biff's old crew chief is on the verge of signing on with DEI that the Biffster could be following him to DEI after the season concludes. I am sure Theresa sees him as a big time name that will help the company move on after Jr. leaves. Siegal probably sees Biff's experience in TV marketing as a big plus to the business side.
The thing that I wonder about is if Biffle would be any happier at DEI. DEI still needs a lot of improvement in engineering. I think Rousch Fenway had a much better engineering group. Biff will be happy to work with Tryson again but will that bring him any closer to a championship? My bet is no. The problem is Biff has probably done all that he can do with the "Cat in the Hat". Rousch has been focusing more of the teams attention to the highly marketable Carl Edwards and David Ragan and I am sure they love the Silent Assasin, Matt Kenseth. Jamie McMuuray is much more attractive than Biff so... If he were to stay that leaves him as odd man out anyway.
While I think a championship is no closer with a move to DEI Biff would become the marquee driver for DEI, he would be with Tryson and ultimately more happy than he is now. Biff would win at DEI he has a great amount of talent. He just will not win the Championship. Now will he drive a Ford or a Chevy for DEI? We will leave that for another day
I understand that if you break the rules there are penalties involved. However why has NASCAR resisted publishing what the punishment will be for each infraction. Wether it is intentional or not NASCAR continues to apear to be playing favorites. Th only way that they can change that impression is by publishing objective penalties for rule violations. If they want to keep the ability to detrmine punishment by subjective factors such as intent they need to do a better job with public relations.
The 100 point penalty and 6 race suspension for Tony Jr. is on par with what the did to Mikey Waltrip. HE ADDED JET FUEL TO HIS CAR. That is as intentional as intentional gets. Jimmie Johnson is the biggest race of the year has an illegal piece that was designed to fool the inspectors and what does he get? A 25 point penalty, 4 race crew chief suspension and $35,000 monetary fine.
The Bracket that the 8 team used was a bracket that NASCAR had used on previous COT models. They used the wrong piece. Was it intentional? Who knows? Maybe, maybe not but it is not as clear cut intent to cheat as what happened with Mikey's car or JJ's car. And Jr gets 100 pts deducted. Howabout letting the punishment fit the crime?
I am not going to scream conspiracy to have Hendrick win the championship. They dont need the help and NASCAR knows it. Helton is just so blinded by how much but kissing the Hendricks team does over there he can bot see that what he is doing is not in the least bit equitable. Whats more it is ruining the reputation of the sport. The perceived bias toward Hendricks and these mysterious debris cautions that change the outcome of races is causing some major problem to a sport that is trying to market itself to the masses.
How do they expect NY, LA, Chicago. et. al. to take NACAR seriously when they do not state the guidelines on how penalties will be handed down. I love racing but it is no wonder why I have to defend this passion of mine in the the NYC area. Very few people here saw NASCAR before it became the WWE.
