Quote/Motto: "Every one of these drivers in the garage area, I can speak to because they all speak English, with the exception of Ward Burton. He speaks whatever he speaks. He speaks Ward." -- Tony Stewart
Favorite Driver: Kyle Busch
Who Am I:
Originally from the Washington DC area, my husband and I moved to New York City to pursue the American dream of living in a breadbox-sized apartment. Maybe subconsciously trying to compensate for the move North, I found myself delving deeper into my two passions of NASCAR and Civil War History. I now write a weekly (well I try to be weekly) NASCAR article and listen daily to the Rowdy Podcast.
Favorite Track:
Dover International Speedway
How I discovered Rowdy, and why I Listen:
I found Rowdy on ITunes and never looked back. One Rowdy a day keeps the Jayski away. It's all I need.
Why I'm a race fan:
For spite.
Favorite Music:
Old-school country, a little punk, new wave, glam, hip-hop, and a teeny weeny bit of hard core.
Favorite Movies:
My favorites tend to be documentaries. The last excellent movie I watched was After Innocence.
Favorite Books:
I can't remember the last non-history book I read, but I probably didn't like it.
Vices:
Gosh, it would have to be Rowdy.com. I spend WAY too much time here.
Heroes:
Marilyn Waring: a member of New Zealand parliament in the 80s. Her views on social economics changed my life.
At least Lauren liked my new picture.
Yes, he did have a lot of fun yesterday. He spent it with family (his favorite cousin included) and just soaked up the attention. Today is the kids' party. He is thrilled!! Mike is a bit crazy for not kissing you this long...perhaps he likes to build anticipation so things don't get 'old'!
Thank you for helping to make ML187's 6th birthday extra special! : ) We also got the super cool racecar e-card. That was AWESOME!! Can't wait to see you soon! P.S. Is Mike kissing you yet?
capitalism does work just not when the government subsidises it with taxpayer money.
I was just messing with you about Wes' accent. His talk is mild compared to some of the local folks where I live (and maybe me). But, that this is "music" to your ears is music to my ears, too. I love this local talk. It's "real." So many folks north of the Mason-Dixon Line perceive the Southern dialect in its many, many forms as a negative and ignorant thing. The Southern dialect is really an art form.
Kurt has tangled with Tony a few times so that put him on my naughty list. Plus, I've heard from people here in Vegas that he used to say some very unpleasant stuff to his mom. And that kinda rubs me the wrong way. I'm sure he's better now, but since he messed with Smoke...

Hey, man! I loved to read your story about your time spent at the Glen. Many of us would kill to do all of the things you did! haha. Of course, you can't beat going to a race and literally watching YOUR driver win it all!
Yep. Next week I'll probably get none right.
Kyle's store is open on his Rowdybusch.com site. I'm going to get the 51 RESPECT shirt.
Wes has an accent? I don't get it.
Thank you. I've actually been toying around with the idea of a weekly video blog, but I just never get around to it. Maybe after Michigan I'll have something to vent about.
I got 6 correct and placed third overall last week. Jumped from like 160 to 30 something in the points. :) No idea how that happened.
Thank you! I had seats in front of the 17 pit area before - by chance. Makes the race a lot more interesting. It's funny...I went to MIS with Becky and didn't take a single picture. I guess I'm not much of a picture-taker - and rely on the generosity of NASCAR gals like you! Thanks so much again!
Just noticed your Ward quote...thought you might be interested to know my page's quote is a Wardism. Check it out sometime when you get a chance. Maybe I missed it, but when did you become a Kyle fan? I certainly understand why, just didn't realize you switched...guess I should pay better attention to these details.
Thanks for the kind words about the outro. I felt really privileged to be a part of the podcast. It was fun and Buck was the ultimate professional. I was expecting something a little more free-form like the typical outro, but he was well prepared with questions and answers and knew where he wanted to take the conversation. Very pleasant experience.
Can I enlist your sewing skills to help make my 'homemade firesuit for Bristol'? I think that idea has real potential. :)
Love the new picture! I'm still hoping there's some way we can top yesterday, I don't know how but the Lauren 500 is still a definite possibility...
Fun pics. Congrats on having the opportunity to see your driver win. Looking forward to a recap of your time at the Glen and how it compares to attending a race at the Monster. I'm considering taking my son next summer, but am afraid it might be too spread out. Curious to hear your perspective.
Cheers to that! When do we leave? :)
I wish you would have; it would have been great to hear from you guys. I'm checking out the pics and feel certain a Black Sheep weekend blog is to follow.
BTW: just emailed Lauren about her DZ picks; I was talking smack yesterday and she crushed me...
Congrats on seeing "your" driver win the race. The picture from Victory circle is great.
1) Thanks.
2) It depends on which road course you pick, but since the chase so tightly bunches the field, I do thing there would be some drivers at a serious disadvantage--Kenseth, Kahne, Biffle. Really it's not the disadvantage so much as the advantage to Jeff and Tony, who are still head and shoulders above most guys.
Thanks for your shout, I really appreciate it.
I'm still HER huckleberry, too.
LOL trouble? Nah. How can having 5 pro drivers crash on my couch/floor be bad? :)
Thank you for your comments on my "break up" blog. Kyle is fun, but he is definitely NOT my driver entirely. I prefer to play the field as it were...
Ditto what Jeff said, great to hear your voice and miss you on the site. Work keeping you busy? Have a nice one ...
From Indy last Sunday. We stopped just before the flyover and the kids ran in to see the green flag and lap 1. Pretty fun stop! Just to hear that sound was great...deuce didn't like it though!
Sadie, nice job on the podcast. Miss seeing your post here on Rowdy. We stopped at Indy on our way home from vacation and there were a bunch of Ky. Busch fans walking around...the legion is growing. Hope all is well.
We think the world of you, Sadie! Glad our little assortment of surprises brightened your day : )
What the heck...I thought I left a lilttle shoutout early this morning. It didn't take! Anyway, I didn't know it was Cutler who called - my phone said "Buck Fever" so I ignored it (just kidding). That was fun - I wish they'd do that with members of Rowdy every so often. Spices it up a little! Have a great weekend, Sadie!
You're a great interview, Sadie! How come I hear more of you on Rowdy than on my email?! We must make our next date. Oh, any packages arrive?
The Rowdy Black Sheep Interview...good stuff, Sadie!
Thanks. It's good to know that you're still listening.
Sadie! Boy do I feel dumb. I JUST Got your voicemail message from a few weeks ago. Well, I had gotten it, but it was saved in the depths of my mailbox until I heard it today. I am terribly sorry!!
Looking forward to seeing you and Michael at Casa 187 on July 26! Can you believe I'm on Rowdy?
Great. You love me like grapefruit soda.
Hi Sadie!! Hope all is well with you and the Black Sheep. I'm back and missed all my Rowdy friends. I thought about you when they announced last week about CAT moving to RCR and Burton. I will always think of Ward in the CAT car. Kind of strange for me that Jeff will be in that car, but a good fit for Jeff. Makes we wonder what Ward has been up to and if we will see him again at the track. Hope all is well...talk to you later..
Hey, Sadie...haven't chatted in a very long time. Just wondering how things are going. Would love to hear about the new job. Drop me a line sometime...
Agreed about the racing this year. Glad you like the new job, always a plus. My job, however... is at least going to change (my territory will essentially double). After fall, we shall see what else happens.
So, as long as I don't have pieces of paper or tin cans attached to my person, I'm in the clear? I will have to pay attention to that. How have you been?
CRAP! Just got home from work and logged on to see I missed the Blacksheep outing...again....:( i gotta give you my personal email....thank you for the invite.
I love your lips. It was a SET UP BY YOU and my left leaning friend. Now I am taking my toys home. Fred Dammit!
Thanks for the lesson on booze ; )
Did you ever get in touch with Joe from Jersey and pin him down for a date next month? Regardless of his availability, we're still on, right?
Great question for the debate. Buck struggled, but Bass did swell!
I was reading what you wrote to Cutler about Rye. Very interesting. My mom used to drink her highballs with Rye and ginger ale with a wedge of lemon. Consequently, that is what I used to drink. Totally delicious! I don't drink them anymore, but I have fond memories...
Thanks for the lesson. Does the beverage have any connection to Rye, NY or not?
no im not working on that one...but the fake blizzards are cool. i used to work in indie film...now i work in tv mostly...much trashier, much more meaningless, but much better pay :)
You are the only one allowed to be a Diva!
I heard about it second hand. I didn't actually see it until they posted on the website on Tuesday. A buddy of mine who runs a Sunbeam emailed me on Monday when he got it in the mail.
If you can't find it at your local ecclectic magazine shop there in the city, the magazine's order number is: 1-800-818-5624. I am absolutely floored! I didn't even have a subscription to that magazine (I do now!).
Why, thank you! It had to be said. Bigot statements such as that one can and will not get past me without my word on it :)
This week is my last week of shooting for the show i'm working on...after that my schedule eases up a bit...so as soon as its done week nights are good for me. Went to Pocono this weekend. Aside from a little heat stroke it was great! i have some pics i will post.
...Broccoli Farmers of America....ha!
Hey Sadie, no, I do not recall seeing that photo. However, if they posted it - it should be fair game. I get the majority of my racing phots from here http://www.motorsport.com/photos/ ----Awesome site.
The cheese was AWESOME!!!! Olives, too! Racer is angry I sent home the biscotti with you!! Great stuff - thank you!! Can't wait until next month : )
Thanks for your advice; my son Sam and I had a great time at the truck race.
hey there....i've also been absent from the site for a bit...due to working too much ..but still waiting to meet the Blacksheep :) hopefully we can plan something soon.
Thanks dollie! :) Figured it was time to mix it up!
I saw a tee shirt in Boone today that had a VW bus and it said Vango. It was hanging in an art store. Your Mom is one cool chick.
He's a good pick! He doesn't get on my nerves like most people, well, just a little ... his brother on the other hand, forget it, I can't stand him! Let's face it, Carl isn't always "mr clean", he's gotten himself in a few scrapes, just proves they're human!
... and I was thinking chocolate too, we both must be "tuned" that way!
Aflac colors are sooo weird, I guess I'll get used to it, kinda glad I don't have to go "brown"! HaHah. Has a driver picked you yet?
It was great seeing the Sheep in NYC. Next time North Carolina........
hey there..between my crazy work sked and my depression over the Richmond race... i haven't been on rowdy too much...but don't forget to let me know the next time you all get together...maybe we can find a way to watch the All Star race at a bar in BK or something...
Nice to e-meet you too Sadie. I guess there really is some NASCAR love here in the big city!!!! My only convert so far is my three year old nephew - and a car bribe was all it took! I LOVE this stuff!!
You are so sweet - thank you very much : )
Signed, sealed, delivered. Hope you like it - I felt pressure to get it out for you ; )
Sadie! How are you doing? I know I haven't been around lately. But I better get my promised time to hang out with the Sheep this summer before I leave for college! Hope all is well!
You really might want to stay in the closet now! Probably not a good time to be a shrub fan...
Thank you Sadie! I can now officially say that I am "Golden"! LOL!
Hey Sadie. Just nice of you to mention it. Take care and have a great Friday.
Hey Sadie, I was kind of kidding; I don't think you want a shirt that I've worn for exercise.
Things were looking good until Labonte and Junior set off a big one. That essentially eliminated 3 of my picks and ended my day. Still pretty happy with 3rd though.
Hi Sadie! Yeah...I'm around here just enough to stay out of trouble. Love your new hair-doo! An 18 fan?!?! What?!?! I guess I have been out of the loop! :-)
I saw your post about being an #18 fan; I've got an old M&Ms racing shirt that I'd gladly give you. It has a #38 on the sleeve but who's really paying attention. I have to admit that I watch what Kyle's doing in each race; he just so good.
I see you and dubbie are conspiring against me! When he grows up, does lover boy become lover man?
someone else is sending me this song too! When he grows up, does lover boy become lover man?
Our days in NYC, getting there Sunday night and leaving on Friday morning. The dates are May 4 - 9.
Thanks for the birthday wishes Sadie. And yeah - Bass gets Loverboy stuck in his head VERY easily!
No, definitely not official...still have the race this weekend. So, I've still not technically won anything. BTW, was your new avatar taken near the Plaze de Concorde (near the Louvre, just the other side of the Tuileries, and site of beheadings during the French Revolution)? I'm right...right?
If you ever want to drive Bass absolutely crazy, get "Working for the Weekend" stuck in his head.
Excellent news about the new job. At least I would hope so. I think a curse needs to be placed on Cutler, a man who promotes evil through awful song references. I mean, I've tried banging my head to make it stop which does work once you come too, but there's that awful headache.
Yea! You are the bestest Brand Strategist I've ever known : )
We will see you in two shakes of a lamb's tail.
Wow, super cool! What will you be doing and when?!
You coming down this weekend with Lauren?
That's not the NASCAR rule book you're wading through there, is it?
Now, every time I stop by to say something to you, you've got a different picture. I'm having difficulty with the "real" Sadie. When I get to NYC I'll be searching around for you like a "Where's Waldo" book.
Now, Sadie. You and I both know that a fuel-mileage victory is no less of a victory than any other.
Is this you in the City of Lights? Too cool!!
Like Bass, eh? Is that a good or a bad thing? Yeah, just felt like shaking things up a little. You changing your avatar kind of spurred me to do likewise.
Hope the black sheep ladies had fun the other night..i'm there next time. I just got my sister to join rowdy...missjr is her username...gonna tell her to add the black sheep as her friends :)
Thanks for the kind words, Sadie. You'll have to tell J.D. that you are now always ready for race day as you only use Sunoco 260 GTX (98-octane; it's a pure hydrocarbon fragrance -- it contains no alcohols and ethers and is non-oxygenated. – Barry
Hey, no complaints here. I happen to like the new photo. Not all changes are bad. Just make sure that your friend Kerry never loses the photo with the foot behind her head...that 's a good one too.
cute haircut! Thanks so much for the invite. i wont be able to come tonight...i've been working crazy hours lately (i work in TV production and we've been shooting last week and this week). But next time I'm there...
Wow! Just when you get nice and cozy with a friend's avatar they go and change it up on ya'....nice. I'm looking at shakin' mine up a little as well.
Hey, is everyone at Sadie Motor Sports wearing that 93 octane perfume?
No, no... the haircut. My confidence was shaken ages ago...
A bathroom photography session? Be still my heart.
If you look closely, you can totally see the stall door in your avatar.
Holy cow, I'll hardly know whom I should report to on race day now!
Hey, Sadie. Thanks for the kind comments about my blog. I'm striving to crank out some quality blogs over the coming days. Me and some other Rowdy originals are getting frustrated with the junk blogs out there. We need to take back our site!
When do we get to see the sexy new 'do?
It's short- I'm hoping it makes me go faster!
Man, a little slack in the blogging department...I know I am, but I am WORKING!
OK, I guess...sorry...I'll...MISS IT.
Sunday is the big chop. How's Thursday night for you? I'm totally up for inviting new people! I bored with you two... :)
hey sadie, yea he has a onesie with race cars but they're F1...dang!
Funny I was going to say the same to you! :)
When are we showing off our new haircuts?
Dover is great...and Pocono is my hometown. (are you going in June?). You will love Bristol! I will be at the august night race. Martinsville was FREEZING... it was good to see Jr run well but the win eludes us..they still have a bit of work to do...
I have a growing list of sales reps and clients who need a good zapping.
I am intrigued by your "electric shocks through the internet" idea and would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
I'm in Park Slope. I have the same problem with the bars...I tend to stay home and watch from there. Would love to meet up with the Black Sleep Crowd whenever you get together! Headed to Martinsville tomorrow....
I miss your unmistakable wit, intelligence, humor, and personality here at Rowdy!!!
Thank you so much for your comments on my latest blog! We women are infiltrating NASCAR slowly but surely ; )
Hey Sadie...it's been too long since we chatted. I hope all is well...who's your driver this season with Ward on hiatus? Are you all still planning on a Talladega trip? Hope to hear from you soon...
Thank you, Senorita! I think it's a great lineup. Kerry will give 'em all a hard time. Will the car be black?
we hung out yesterday watching the Duel, very cool dudes. have a nice weekend.
hey Sadie, hope you're doing well.
she's in there! Doing well. Headed to Detroit next week, trying to decide if I'm going to go ride tonight. Probably. Probably will be a popsicle, too.
Gotta prep for the season with SMS!
Hey, haven't heard from you much lately. Hope all is well for you. Have a good evening.
Heh heh... don't kid yourself. My memory's been shot for a long time. Thanks for all of the great info!
