Haas CNC Penalites...

1. No. 66 driver Scott Riggs penalized 150 Championship points
2. No. 66 Crew Chief Bootie Barker fined $100,000 and suspended for 6 races
3. No. 66 Car Chief Derrick Jennings also suspended for 6 races
4. No. 70 Driver Johnny Sauter penalized 150 Championship points
5. No. 70 Crew Chief Dave Skog fined $100,000 and suspended for 6 races
6. No. 70 Car Chief Thomas Harris also suspended for 6 races
7. No. 66 and No. 77 team owners Joe Custer and Margaret Haas each lost 150 owner point

Let’s just say the teams took a beating for doing a very stupid thing. Neither one of the cars were in the top 20 for the year and after watching the Coca-Cola 600 this past weekend, they still finished 26th and 35th in their back up cars. Both teams were sitting mid to back of the pack with the modifications, so you have to wonder who made the decision in the garage to make the change? Whomever that person was… they need to put a blind fold on and let everyone take a swing at him. The team owners (if they weren’t involved) need to think about their program and make some changes. Last time Haas CNC made the headlines was when rumors were going around about Tony Stewart and the possibility of him joining the team as an owner/driver after his contract comes up.

Kasey Kahne got lucky again!

So the talk of the past few weeks has been Kasey Kahne and the lucky streak he’s been on. I have to admit, he didn’t have “THE car of the race this weekend, but yet again he stayed consistant and strong throughout the entire race. I thought he was a contender throughout the whole race, but in reality he was probably a second or third place car at that. But Luck plays a big role in this sport we call NASCAR, just look at Tony Stewart. If the guy had even a 1/4 as much luck as Kasey Kahne, he would have won this race.

NASCAR Silent Auction for MS

www.RonRipple.com was contacted by a NASCAR fan yesterday evening who is holding an online Auction for Multiple Sclerosis. Whenever a fellow NASCAR fan needs help, you can always count on Ron Ripple to be there for you. Janet Van Leer sent me an e-mail yesterday in regards to her MS Auction she’s currently holding. Click Here to view the Auction. It started on Tuesday and will be ending midnight April 1st. So if you’re a NASCAR fan and see an item on her website that you’re interested in, please make sure you bid on it. It’s not only going to be a cool item, but all the proceeds are going to a good cause.

If you’re not sure what MS is… MS stands for Multiple Sclerosis and is a very devestating Disease. It’s a disease that attacks the Central Nervous System which is made up of the brain, spinal cord, and optic nerves. Basically this disease slowly works its way through the Central Nervous System and often causes one to become disable. There isn’t a cure for this disease yet but there’s a lot of researchers working on it. So make sure you visit Janet’s website and if you see something you like please bid on it. Every dollar counts.

Details for Janet’s NASCAR Auction:

Website : http://mysite.verizon.net/resywmoo/mongoose2008auction/

Contact: Janet Van Leer

Time: March 25th - April 1st at Midnight

Cause: Raise Money for MS

I just put a bid on the #3 item for $25. Happy bidding everyone!

Daytona Penalties

WOWWWWWWWW…. so there were some serious teams from this past weekend’s Daytona 500 that got penalized for some sort of infraction. The biggest penalty went to Robby Gordon after inspectors found an illegal bumper on the front of the car. NASCAR officials gave him a 100 point penalty, fined his crew cheif $100,000, and suspended his crew cheif for 6 races. Overall it dropped him from 9th place down to 40th place. Another team that got penalized last weekend in the Craftsman Truck Series was my boy Todd Bodine. He was penalized for an infraction the inspectors caught before qualifying. So the good news is he still won the race fair and square, but the bad news is he is penalized 25 points, his crew cheif fined $10,000 and his crew cheif is suspended for 4 races.

Here’s the news I know a lot of my readers are going to be extremely concerned about. Dale Earnhardt Jr was penalized 50 points for having an illegal spoiler on his car. His crew cheif was fined $25,000 and also given a 6 race suspension. The good news is it was for the Nationwide Series which still leaves him in the hunt for the Sprint Cup Series. Of all the drivers from this past weekend’s race… I would have never guessed we’d see Dale Earnhardt Jr’s name on the list of penalized drivers. It’s just unfortunate these teams aren’t following the rules and are trying to get away with little modifications. Can’t these teams just race fair and square and follow the rules?

The biggest news from this past weekend’s race is Officials found a hidden bottle of NOS in the trunk of Kurt Busch’s race car. Supposedly he hit the button on the last lap of the restart to give Ryan Newman his push to victory. The question that is confusing officials is how did he get that bottle through inspection the morning of the race. HAHAHAHA… I’m only kidding!!!!! Kurt Busch didn’t have a bottle of NOS in his car, but I know I had you going because the way he pushed Ryan Newman to the front of the pack on the last lap of that race is unbelievable.

Anyway, let me know what your opinion is on the infractions. Why would a team put an illegal part on their car the first race of the season?

AMP Energy Contest

I mentioned in yesterday’s article on my website that I would come up with a contest for a chance to win a prize. Living up to my promise, I got on the horn with the guys over at www.EnergyThis.com and asked if they would donate a case of energy drinks. Without hesitation they said yes and here we are officially kicking off Ron Ripple’s first contest!!! What better energy drink to give away in our first contest then a case of AMP Energy Drink… perfect because of Dale Earnhardt Jr and the new AMP car.

Go to my website for the contest rules. www.RonRipple.com. We're going to be holding more contests like this in the up coming weeks.

Sincerely,
Ron Ripple

Allow Myself to Introduce... Myself!

Howdy, my name is Ron Ripple and with out a doubt NASCAR’s number one fan. I was born and raised in a small town in South Carolina with a population of about 459. It’s basically a town where everyone knows everyone’s business and you can’t walk down to the local grocery store without someone saying your name. Growing up I’ve always wanted to get out of this place and move to the big city. I’ve only had one passion in my life and that passion was NASCAR. It was the only exciting thing in my life, and on every Sunday starting in February and ending in November, you could find me at the local bar drinking a beer watching my boys race for the checkered flag.

When I finally got out of this small town in South Carolina, I decided that I needed to move closer to Darlington so that I could see a race in person. Ever since then I’ve been traveling the circuit and have yet to miss a race. Just ask any of the driver’s who Ron Ripple is and they’ll all admit that they’ve thrown down a Bud Lite or two with me. I’ve met some great people here, and I love the racing. So next time you go to a race make sure you look for me, I’ll probably be down in the infield with a brewski in my hand, and an eye on the track.

Make sure you keep checking back on my site where I’ll be discussing NASCAR’s latest and greatest events. Hell, I might even do some interviews with some of your favorite racers. Thanks for visiting my website and if you have any questions or comments please don’t hesitate to contact me. Also if you have any insider information on the teams or racer’s make sure you e-mail me. I just reckon I love drama.
