I haven't decided whether I like Humpy's latest idea of a burnout competition or not. I guess it all depends on the way it gets set up and executed. It may be cooll; it may end up lame. Anyway, here are the participants for Saturday night's burnout duel:
#48 Jimmie Johnson
#16 Greg Biffle
#07 Clint Bowyer
#29 Kevin Harvick
#18 Kyle Busch
Two questions:
1. Who do you think will win?
2. Does anyone know if these cars have to go through any kind of "pre-race inspection" beforehand (I just envision Harvick jacking around all kinds of weight and using special gears and stuff).
I think it will come down to Harvick and Busch. I pick Busch because he's won everything else so far...
I don't know much about this, but first impression is that I'm not impressed. Do they have special built "Burnout" cars that some mechanic has been secretly building in the corner of the garage? If yes, I'm even less impressed. Reminds me of the "World's Fastest Forklift" which I saw at a race last year. LOL... thing did a wheelie and shot down the front stretch like it was shot out of a cannon.
I'll vote for Harvick, but Kyle will win.
The cars are going to be provided by the Petty Driving Experience so they'll all be exactly the same (plus the drivers don't have to worry about destroying them!!).
I think the first Burnout competition will be ok but I see this growing each year like the slam dunk contest. Each year they have to up the ante to try to impress. I can see this being something awesome in a few years when drivers will be trying to out WOW each other in front of the crowd.
This year will just be the Kyle show.
I wasn't excited for the burnout competition when they annouced it a few weeks ago but after watching it and laughing out loud several times, I thought it was a fun addition to the All Star weekend.
