Rowdy Imitators

So I get finished listening to our favorite Nascar podcast - Rowdy! and I'm looking through my playlist on the iPod and decided to listen to the ESPN Nascar podcast, hosted by an old friend of Rowdy. Their was a lot of similarity, like talking to their fantasy expert, or the sounds of the air-wrench between driver segments during the news. ESPN has a bit more resources than Rowdy, but despite the bigger budget they can't hold a candle to the Rowdy podcast.

I have approx 50 podcasts on my iPod. They are all different genres, so I have something to listen to depending on my mood. There are sports shows, faith shows, fitness, comedy, and tech BUT there are only two shows I absolutely have to listen to each day. One is Buzz Out Loud, CNet's daily podcast on tech, and the other is Rowdy Racing News. Even with Sirius radio in my car tuned to the Nascar channel, I still have to get my Rowdy fix each day. The radio is fine, but the Rowdy bunch is like hanging with a group of friends talking about Nascar (that is if I actually had friends who liked to talk Nascar. I'm in MA where the Red Sox and Pats are a religion) .

Rowdy does something that "Old Media" would never do, have a conversation with the nation. Old media talks "at you", not "to you".

So keep it up guys, you're often imitated but never duplicated.

I agree 100%. I listen to a lot of podcasts and Rowdy is the best.

I couldn't agree more, George. It is the best podcast. Way better than the official podcast of NASCAR. Who hosts the ESPN podcast?

I'm right there with you George. The difference between Rowdy and the rest, is the Rowdy boys let their personalities come through, especially with some of the banter, on and off subject. It feels like you're hanging out at a local watering hole, shootin' the breeze. With the exception of when someone decides to break out in song... but even that has the familiar ring of someone about to get flagged. They're terrific and I hope the right people know that.

I'm in your boat George because I keep a ridiculous amount of podcasts in heavy rotation due to the fact that when you work on a computer up to 10 hours a day there's got to be something to listen too.

The thing about Rowdy is that others can rip off the format, concept, and every minor detail they can. What people can't duplicate is talent. All the guys at Rowdy have personalities that make you want to listen to them regardless of what they're talking about. Rowdy could add a secondary podcast about mixing concrete and I feel it would probably be nearly as funny because of the way they connect.

Often imitated, never duplicated.

You have copied this post to the iTunes reviews of Rowdy right!? Right?! :)
I listen to Rowdy when I'm waiting in the car rider line to pick up my kids from school. It is a great way to pass the time.
Oh! If you don't have Wait Wait Don't Tell Me or Stuck in the 80's... those are pretty good podcasts as well. ;)
Seriously, if you haven't posted this to iTunes reviews, you really should... it is great.

Thanks to everyone for these very very kind words. I'm not sure we deserve to have such good people listening, but I'm very glad you all are with us. I wish I could adequately express our appreciation. It really makes it all worthwhile. When we read comments like this, we can say "well, at least we're doing something right." Our intention has always been to talk with not at race fans--because that's all we are too. Thank you, thank you, thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.

Thanks, guys. Rowdy is a conversation, and if you weren't on the receiving end it would be pretty pointless.

Okay... I am speechless. Thank you.

I wasn't even a current NASCAR fan and got hooked - COMPLETELY!

It goes without saying (but i'll say it anyway), you guys are the best. Not just in content but in character. Rowdy is the benchmark in how a podcast (and a community) should be done.

DITTO DITTO DITTO DITTO.... ETC. ETC. ETC. ETC....

You guys are the best at what u do. I dont know what I would do without the show. I dont know how I ever lived without the show... And I think it's perposterous(correct my spelling here buzz), that ROWDY isnt on a mainstream media outlet.
