As a Dale Jr. Fan I hated to see him lose that race last night. I'm sure even a few non Jr. fans wanted to see him break the losing streak. I've watched that bit of video of the wreck at least thirty times and it is was it is, NASCAR.
Kyle is who he is right now. Very immature, but a very good driver. I don't think anyone can question his driving skill. We've seen the kid save his ass countless times. It's easy to jump to the conclusion that he intentionally drove into Jr. He's done it before and he'll do it again. That's his style. Mark Martin would have raced him clean as would several other drivers. I'm not saying he should give up the win, far from it. It did however show Kyle's notorious impatience. Why take the chance of wrecking both cars when you're able to get a better run the next lap? It was, as they say, a racing deal. It sucks for Hamlin, it sucks for Jr. it sure as hell sucks for Johnny Sauter.
I won't defend his comments after the race, most were cheap shots shirking responsibility, and void of integrity. At least he didn't say he was just trying to rattle his cage.

I'm a Jr. fan and I don't like Kyle, but I think this was a racing accident - neither driver had any intention of backing off, and when that happens somebody's gonna lose. Kyle didn't hit Jr. on purpose; he just slip up a little to far while driving hard.
poor jr. it sure would have been great for him to break his streak at the last race he won at, but oh well. like you said it is what it is. and i actually like kyle because he reminds me of the old drivers. quick reminder to all the busch haters, i know of a young earnhardt who was ruffling feathers early in his career, also, because he was impatient and stubborn and pig headed. as a matter of fact i believe that's why a lot of people ended up loving and respecting him so much. he spoke his mind, just like our young friend kyle! so sure, kyle is young and immature, but so what, jr was too at one time. and let's not forget that mr. jr (whom i love) had his own little comments after the race about busch needed some extra security! hmm....
I don't like Kyle, but I respect his tenacity and skill. The feather rufflers and rivalries are what makes this sport exciting and gives fans something to chew on. What would any sport be without the guys we love to hate? Ty Cobb, Terrell Owens, Charles Barkley and so on.
I don't think Jr.'s comment about Kyle needing extra security was made maliciously. He knows his fans well, and from the grandstand point of view Kyle wrecked NASCAR's number one son.
Kyle is a kid and who doesn't know one or several twenty something punks you'd like to take to the wood shed?
