Does anyone have a problem with Rusty W. doing the announcing? It is almost like fingernails being dragged across the blackboard. I did not realize how much I liked Benny and Darryl in their announcing jobs. The other sad part is it seems like Rusty is trying to relive his time in the 2 car now that it is doing better. I really could not stand him much when he was a driver, but now having to listen to him for 3 hrs trying to figure out what car he is talking about it killing me.
I have considered muting the TV and listening to MRN, (or is it PRN now?) so that I can enjoy both the visual and audio racing experience. haha.
I wish that Allen Bestwick would take his spot in the lap-by-lap reporting and put Rusty down on pit road.
I had hoped for more from ESPN then what I have seen. I hope they step it up a bit and get the bar where it needs to be, or they will lose it again.
I just can't help but think ESPN is doing an awful job with all aspects of their NASCAR coverage. I gave up taping that awful daily show. The insiders (Marty Smith, Boris Said, Andy Petree etc.) seem wasted on the shows ESPN broadcasts. It makes me long for the Boogity...and (for the most part) I can't stand the Boogity...
Buck and Bass, anyone??? Just kidding--it's a tough job, but I think Rusty is still learning. Seems like the chemistry is slow developing right now. I'm inclined to cut slack.
Hopefully he'll get better, but for now it's painful to listen to. I listened to the tv feed on my scanner at the track and Rusty spent every commercial break either apologizing for saying something or seeking approval that something he said was good. I also liked Jerry Punch better in a pit reporter role, but I do think he is growing into his role every week.
Rusty was my favorite driver and he used to give such great well spoken interviews as a driver that I was excited to have him calling the races, not sure he has it yet, hope he gets a little more seasoned, but overall the ESPN coverage stinks!
