Why I'm a race fan:
Grew up an Indy Car fan. The split left me with a sport divided between two unwatchable leagues. Always had an eye on NASCAR, met some NASCAR fans and the rest is history.

I'm with Mast, Booorrrinngg! Luckily, I started the evening with my friends 50th at one of the best Bar-B-Q joints in Austin and ended it with a solid top 5 from the best driver at the Fontana Track. At least, my favorite driver.
Ok, we are in good shape heading in minus any bonus points. Let's pick up 10 at Richmond.
What I did find amazing is that I have argued with fair weather Gordon fans who are questionablly race fans about the horrible season Jeff has had. I keep arguing in favor of Gordon that he has remained solidly in the top all year even without a win. But today I eyeball my charts a little closer only to realize that he has dropped below Matt and is in danger of not making the chase if things are safe next week. Hmm.
Solid top ten again. At this point, I'll take it. If I can get those the next several weeks we are safe, but we have to stay there.
I know this is about Matt, but congrats to Carl. Classic bump and run at Bristol. Change the car, change the configuration of the track if you like. Bristol is Bristol and when you put 43 stock cars on here, the bump and run will always save the day. Kyle has 8, Carl has 6. Over half the season between these two people. Wow!
As the Chase sets up we have the usual suspects. Three from JGR, three from Hendrick and three, possibly four, from Roush.
Curious circumstances. Matt gives to the rest of the team the setup notes from earlier in the season. They all show up in good shape and run well. The 17 is a mess off the truck and spends most of the weekend getting it better. It's the COT, I tell ya! We look much better for the chase, but we really need a "W"! Go, go Killer Bees!

Road racing experience is improving and now we are definitely getting in by the skin of our teeth. But, we're in.
Been sleeping on the job...Trying to catch up. Plus a little depressed after Indy.
Earlier this year an old friend called me out of the blue. They told me they were planning to go to their first race during the Atlanta spring run. I loaned them my scanner, gave them advice on what to take in at the track and what they should expect with a six year old in tow. Oh, yeah! Pointed them to Rowdy and a few other sites that would get them ramped for the journey.
Deann is a globe-trotting reporter for the magazine, Christianity Today. Typically she reports on missionary efforts in exotic places, but this time she was meeting up with Max Helton of Motor Racing Outreach, the chaplain program of NASCAR. After a successful trip to Atlanta they went to see the heart of the NASCAR world by visiting Daytona and then attending the spring race at Texas Motor Speedway. I believe we have converted another family to the sport we love. Pun intended. (For you Susie!)
Here is the link to here article in this months CTM and a follow on article from NASCAR chaplain Timothy Morgan. Next we hope for a book deal.

Man! This is not where we want to be at this point. I've listened to the complaining from Tony and the Rowdy gang about Goodyear all season and thought, whatever! But then my guy gets bit and then I start complaining. Ain't it the way. We had a solid car on a bum tire.
I really want to see the yellow and the red seperate, but they seem to be attracted to each other.
A solid run and another top10 finish. Now that we have all but solidified our place in the chase, we need to get some W's. Three reasons: 1- It will solidify our place in the chase, 2- It will close that bonus point gap with Kid (no, I won't call him Rowdy) Kyle, 3- You will not win the championship without W's on the board and we should prove we can before the chase begins.
Sorry for the delay. I've been on vacation and am just now catching up. Wow! What a Daytona for Matty Boy. Best finish and actually in contention. Chip and the gang should be really proud of the progress they are making.
I wanted the yellow and the red to seperate but not in that direction. Weather, let me tell ya! We had a solid run up til then.
