I am not sure I totally agree with NASCAR on the decision to ramp down the Toyota engines. I do agree that the issue should be addressed but it seems to me that they would wait till 2009 to implement a change. I do not think a proper study was done and I believe they were pressured into this decision by other teams. In order to make this season more interesting.
It has been more than evident that Toyota have had a large advantage over the other manufacturers in the engine dept. I am actually disappointed that Nascar has not made a change earlier in the season. But at least they didn't wait until the end of the season when it would be past the make it or break it point for some teams to even survive!
Of course they were pressured by the other manufacturers as they were at a huge disadvantage.
Mid season rules changes suck. Always have, always will. Unless there is a safety reason, it is unfair to punish those who have done the better job in the garage and at the shop. Read Dennis' article here, it paints the ppicture perfectly.
And Rob, do you think any real, Nationwide only teams are going to benefit from this? the benefactors will be the same Cup mega teams that lobbied for it: Hendrick (JR Motorsports), Roush, and RCR.
