Martinsville continues while Malibu Burns

Aaa-pepsi_500_winner_s_speech_2_scott

The Nation watches Martinsville as So. Cal watches Malibu Burn. As Max has reported in the Race Chat, ABC has preempted the race to show the hills of Malibu burning. Battling winds gusting to 35 mph, I have lost a large palm and another tree in addition to 16 feet of fence.

Those with Digital cable are offered options to catch the race but those like I with Directv or DISH are SOL.

Thankfully the race will replay at 6:00 am tomorrow on ESPN Classic as well as at 12:30 pm on ESPN2.

Last week KABC cut early to Jeopardy and this week nothing...got to love those guys.

I know that this is not the politically correct thing to say...but...of all of the places in So. Cal to be on fire, the folks in the house or two that does burn are well insured and perhaps the most wealthy in the state if not the nation. If a fire were threatening a few homes in Alabama, ABC would be showing the race.

I sent an email to KABC complaining. It may sound insensitive, but I don't want to watch fire coverage all day! Good thing I at least can watch football. Sounds like an interesting race too. If you have DirecTV, HDNet always replays the race on Thursday night as well.

That really sucks! I guess KABC doesn't think there are any NASCAR fan's in Southern Ca. Sounds like Sara got hosed too.

It's probably your local affiliate. Last year during the Atlanta race they cut out and went to the Tigers winning the pennant. Only not the Tigers, just idiots on the streets of Detroit going WHOOOOO! Mind you, there was National coverage on another station of the game. They didn't stay on for more than 30 minutes or so and sounded surprised when they said "evidentially people would like to watch the NASCAR race ..." DUH!

They are still going with the news coverage of the fire at 6 pm PST. Eight straight hours!!! Give it a break already!

If they cut away from the fires, you might miss Chuck Henry's truck on fire....AGAIN!!!!

Must have been just you locals' tv down there. In Nor-Cal, my station stayed with the race. I didn't hear about the fires until after 6:00. I was sad to see "the castle" burn, that place was a landmark. I go down to Malibu every May, so I'm familiar with the area. But I totally agree that it's hard to feel sorry for the millionaires who lose one of their vacation houses. Waaaah.

When my wife was a little girl she always wanted to grow up and live in the castle. She was nearly in tears last night when they showed it on fire.
