Charlotte attendance - ticket prices

Boy

The announcers on ABC kept saying how Charlotte was filled to capacity, and how 160,000 fans were on their feet. But it sure looked to me like it was maybe 85% full. I wonder why that is? Lots of race fans in that area obviously. Is Humpy too greedy with ticket prices in that NASCAR-saturated area of the country or what?

I was at the race and I have to agree. But one possible answer is that a lot of fans, including my self, were not in out seats. Instead we were on the back walk way of our grand stand inorder to get a better view because being right on the track where my $29 seat was i could barely make out what was going on over in turn 3 and 4.

Oh, thanks for the info. That makes sense, I didn't realize that was an option since I've never been to that track. I also take back my statement about being greedy, since $29 seats are very reasonable. I had decent seats at the Brickyard in '04 but due to the size of the track could only see what happened right in front of me -- but it was still an AWESOME experience to be there live.

Wow, I bet you a good time on Saturday night. That was one of the most exciting races in a while. Didn't turn out too good for #48, but there's always next week...

Who knows? Went to the 600 a couple of years ago and was able to get tickets about a couple of weeks in advance for like $50. The place didn't seem sold out but it was probably 95% or so full. Maybe having their races so late at night instead of during the day drives some people away. Not sure.

Hardcore boozers that start at sunrise for a race that starts after sunset sometimes fizzle out before the green flag drops. Theres one of these amateurs in every crowd, and they should all be ashamed of themselves they're better than that!

I was at the race as well.. and there were a good many empty seats..

I was at the race too... great time!! Felt real sorry for Newman.
The seats around me were all full at the beginning of the race but people actually got up and left about 1/2 way through. Did anyone else notice the way the announcer said "Ward Burton"... He said it just like Ward would have. It was really funny!

I went to the 600 last year, got my tickets probably about March and they were high up on the frontstretch, underneath the condos and press box so there was a very minimally obstructed view from the support beams...it really wasn't a factor at all. For someone who's been going to Richmond so many years it seemed odd that seats like that were still available a couple months before the race. I would say that race was probably about 85-90% full, but there were a ton of people who never seemed to make it out of the parking lot.

1st time in 6yrs have'nt gone but I've watched it fill up & empty out - If they Gve the $99.00 super tix people access to better seats they would get more people - instead of the no alchol section where no one sits -If people drive a day or to to get there they deserive good seats. Best race race I've ever been to !!!
