At 2.45 miles, the course at the Glen is longer than the one in Sonoma. It features 11 turns with varying degrees of banking from 6 to 10 degrees. It’s not quite as tricky as the California track, but the corners are fast, the straights are a bit longer, and there are more places to pass: turn one and the chicane on the back stretch, known as the "bus stop," are two of the best. Even so, track position is critical here as at any road course--all the more so because in the event of a caution, all restarts are single file. It also features gravel waste areas for drivers to land into when they go off course. These rock pits save lives but they can really ruin a race car and a driver's chance to win.
